This is the new Yorkshire bank advert I did with preamptive, alot of late nights especially from Keith, It was like playing with a doll's house but we used the new HDRI kit from GreyscaleGorilla which added to the final relistic look of the model.

NY Wipe Out

It seems like ages since I last posted anything, I have been working but on projects for Keltie Cochrane doing music for an animation plus I just had to do a website animation for Bacardi, not much fun but pays the bills. Apart from this I have been to New York in-between so that has thrown me aswell with lack of sleep and so much to take in....

For a while I have been pondering on the sound side of my business so I have 3 parts of real:2073 it took me a while and I have come up with a name at last!! LAB73 Ive sussed the logo and its fluked it self with LAB looking like 73 pic will explain, ive started on a ident today so here is a screen shot but more needs to be done and I think its great having our own branding where this can be experimented on...

2073 E4 Sting

Every Year its exciting to watch the students come up with concepts for the briefs this year instead of MTV we have given them the E4 so as usual myself and dave have a bash, so here's my concept straight out of the brain of 2073 ;)

Found this on good old GreyScaleGorilla, makes me want to get back into motion graphics for music as I am a music producer as well, I use to do stuff like this with preamptive, but again doing the soundscore, but now I think there needs to be a 1000eyes_midnight project !!! watch this space :)

Just been working on my World War Robot, made him some new textures as a peice keeper.I have an animation in mind for this, again like many of my stuff in an urban decayed war zone in the future(2073) just been testin with lighting and global illumination which gives a more relistic model effect. Cant wait to start this but too many other projects to complete first before I have fun with this boy. The Ashley Wood 3A club on youtube saw my othe WWR animation and loved it but if you've seen it, its crap compared to what I can do now so hopefully this one will be well intence ;)

New Graphic Work

Just been commissioned by my old pal suade to re-vamp/brand his Record label 'ADAPTED VINYL' Im really excited about this as its Logo, website, vinyl artwork, and motion graphic, which for me is a dream job as I have full control over creativity. This makes a change to all the mundain corporate stuff!! Ive already started designing this morning :)

Work Is Spoiling my Creative Time

Its been a tough week in the world of 2073, Freelance & College work has taken over, with a few Motion Graphic Idents, Character Animation, & Teaching 6 days a week.

This week I think Im going to focus on finishing the Character Animation for Punch Taverns, again ive been looking to find the perfect simple rig some parts have worked but its the weight painting that causes all the issues.

Murry has finished the Lego rig, so that means I can start the music video for 'Because I am'
got to do the intro filming then the final animation should come together.

Got a few new projects in mind to support my portfolio, Im going to start focusing on a few 2d experimental tital sequences in After Fxs, this has been on the cards for a while but now I have a concept it will be easier to develop.

My application for Lucus Films has been handed in, though Im still waiting for college to confirm with them that I am enrolled on the course, my deadline is this friday so Im paniking abit if I miss this chance ;(

By next week I will definataly be posting up more work as text is a bit of a bore........

Just did my first session of my 5 week City&Guilds Photoshop & illustrator, a good bunch of students that were quite reserved but I think I got them quite into it as the day went along. still not sure about working Saturdays though :(

Plans for this week is to create a fully rigged character that is easy to build, rig and animate for the 1st years, I've been studying loads of tutorials, found some new tricks that I think may work, but I have to put this to practice. Going to watch the animated film '9' about the sack people, don't know much about it but I absolutely love the look and style of it:)

Sunday's Up

No Real creativity today, but I was experimenting with an arm rig in C4D, worked really well for once ;) also looking more into Mograph, there is some real good tutorials out there. Just found this site http://www.artcom.de there commercial developers, who just made an interesting documentary on the Berlin wall that was all made in Cinema 4D!!

Just watched UP loved it!! the animation was class and as always gets your mind thinking, I noticed though that Disney always show Blood? Also got 9 to watch not the one with penelopi cruz (grrr) but the animation about the sack people, watched the first 10mins and loved it animation, models, concept fantastic!!

Man Flu got the better of me : Def Con-2

Been a non productive night for me, a long day teaching with the lurgy has made me just chill tonight though I did just burn some of my animations and show:real onto DVD to see what it looked like on the big telly, all looks good but made me want to make something new that is really finished and full of new animation and compositing techniques. I did look at the pictoplasma website as a few friends are going this year, but I think my wedding plans get in the way so I better not go especially after just getting back from New York then hopping on a plane to berlin I think the mrs to be will kill me ;0 www.pictoplasma.com an excellent festival full of creativity!! Someone should start this in Newcastle!!!

Just a quick test of Mo for tonights Blog... Ive used the depth of feild on this shot which I think Im going to use throughout the inside shots, as In the space shots it blurs the background too much but as you can see it gives some nice depth to Mo. Ive just sussed the hi-rarky of ataching a subject to a rigged construction, just add your object in the last bone and this will move with the rigg (look at the 303 in his right arm) Well Im comin down with man flu so enough 3d and time for bed:)

Finally sussed a decent way to rig Mo's telescopic arms, this has been troubling me for a while, just because I wanted it A, to work and B, to look realistic in the movement. After studying a few tutorials I adapted the rig to work. Its not perfect as there are a few creases when moved into certain positions but will look good in the animation. For the hands or claws I used Dave's morph tag theory, which works perfect for its purpose. I really chuffed about this but I'm still waiting to shoot some video which will be mapped onto the Sentinel One head.

Meteor Explode

A quick test of the Meteor explode, the meteor was rendered out of Cinema 4D as it has the base on it you cant see yet, but you may at the start. The rest of the explosion was created in after effects, I followed a tutorial on my favorate site http://www.videocopilot.net/ any one who wants to really go for it with after effect should do some tutorials with this guy!! Although I followed the tutorial there was added FX's from previous knowledge of this program. This is no way the final peice but close to what I am trying to create for the music video, though it seems I have killed us all off at the end of the vid:( well Mo & Sentenal One.

Must be the snow!

Have not really been to creative today as I have a gig tonight as Tokyoacidcru. Were doing sort of a live set with our own tracks and playing drum machines over the top with a 303 as well.

I was going to do some visuals but yet again time has caught up with me.

I was going to post some screen shots of the meteor explode I have just done but I think ill work on it more over the weekend to get the timing perfect and add more after effects :)

Intro Space Scene's

I watched Superman returns the other day which has helped with some of the thinking behind the meteor & space scenes which I have not shown yet for the Tokyoacidcru video. Im rendering my meteor at the moment with green screen then going to try to recreate the explosion bit a the begining of superman in After effects. I cant show the story board yet as it is very ruff, but basically, Sentenal One & Mo are on a space station, which is on a meteor hurtling through space which has some kind of communication with a dying plannet which it fixes. This is Suade's concept from TAC, Im just making it, which is good to produce someone elses concept instead of my own for a change:) Another movie that I watched the other day that had the same kind of concept and insparation was 'Aliens vs Monsters, Its good when your making stuff and you already have the concept, but then see other forms of insparation to help further your thinking and problem solving.

Tokyoacidcru Music Video

These are some of the test shots from 'computer takes control' They are no means finished or styled but do have the 3D Glasses effect on Mo & Sentenal One if you have glasses give it a try, it works but from sussing this out Ive realised how much work is to be done if I want to do the whole video in 3D, but then again I did suss a easy method by using 2 videos, keying and Masks.

Snow Cancel's Today's Creativity I Think !!!

Just got some more freelance work in so happy about that:):), going to work abit on the tokyoacidcru music video 'Computer Takes Control' Ive recreated old 80's Cartoon with sental one & Mo. Mo is doing my head in abit as im trying to rig his extended arms ;( I'll post some shots when Im happy with the stylisation of it. Done the intro credits which was quite fun as I filmed my gold fish to create a sort of Northern lights feel in space(((0_0))) All will be reveiled ;) Just followed Ashley Wood, I love his work especially World War Robot which I have built in 3D but still need to do something special. Thanks to all you lot that followed me!!, Im all new to this and will try to focus this blog on some exciting stuff that Im in the process of making this year, Also I can keep an eye on you for PPD ;)
